I completed a delightful book about the effects of light pollution.  The book is "The Darkness Manifesto" by Johan Eklof (translated by Elizabeth DeNoma). Johan is a researcher of bats.

Quote from the books listing, "the world’s flora and fauna have evolved to operate in the natural cycle of day and night. But in the last 150 years, we have extended our day—and in doing so have forced out the inhabitants of the night and disrupted the circadian rhythms necessary to sustain all living things, including ourselves."

This book made me think about how I use light around my property. How can I still enjoy the night sky, stars, and moon?  Can I hear and see the animal activity around my farm?  How does that compare to when I lived in a large city with constant lights?  Johan Eklof discusses how both examples affect not only my view of the sky, but also the activity of planets, animals, humans, and smaller organisms.
